At High Street Dental Practice we think it’s really important for children to start visiting the dentist from an early age, so you’ll be pleased to know that we’re a child friendly dentist in Stonehouse Gloucestershire. In fact we would recommend your child comes to the dentist when their first milk teeth appear (on average this is around 6 months of age).
Visits from an early age will also help your child become familiar with their surroundings and their dentist, getting used to lying in the dentist chair and opening their mouth to show their teeth.
It is recommended that even before the baby teeth erupt, you should regularly clean the gums with a fine clean cloth. You can start brushing your baby’s teeth as soon as they appear. Advice on the use of toothpastes varies according to the age of the child. We risk assess every child at every appointment to tailor recall intervals, fluoride application regimen and oral hygiene instructions.
